Software Heritage has set itself the important task of curating software for the long run at a global scale, and to safeguard the long term availability of these bits carefully crafted for all intents and purposes. Technology is shaping our age and our societies (to quote professor Lawrence Lessig: «code is law»), and its history and its politics are a vital part of our collective history. It has taken an unprecedented effort to create the vast software landscape of today, and preserving it for ourselves and for future generations comes at a bargain – but it needs to be done, and as soon as possible.
Software Heritage is a heroic effort which has already rescued millions of applications and it deserves broad support to continue its work.
The support of all of us.
