The Association of Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on Software Engineering (ACM SIGSOFT) is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the art, science, engineering, and application of software. ACM SIGSOFT serves both professional and public interests by fostering the open interchange of information and by promoting the highest professional and ethical standards. Software is now present everywhere. It is a pillar of our modern societies, and the source code of this software embodies our scientific and technological knowledge. In a word, it is our DNA.
We fully support the objective of the Software Heritage project to create a comprehensive public archive of software artifacts. This is an essential step to collect, organize, preserve and disseminate this universal body of knowledge.
On behalf of ACM SIGSOFT,
