Congratulations! You are an official ambassador for Software Heritage!

Our ambassador programme is set up to engage people to increase the Software Heritage community and together continue the goal of building the Software Heritage archive.

Mission

Software Heritage is a very large international non-profit initiative, launched by Inria, supported by UNESCO and open to sponsors from any country, industrial, academic, governmental or non-governmental.

Software Heritage’s ambition is to collect, preserve, and share all software that is publicly available in source code form. As you already know, at Software Heritage archive, a wealth of applications can be built, ranging from academia to cultural heritage, industry and public administration.

Software Heritage's abbreviation: SWH

The Software Heritage archive

It is the largest collection of source code ever built (more than 150M projects, almost 10 billion unique source files as of January 2021 see the site for updated data).

It is not a simple traditional archive, but a sophisticated infrastructure: using the same technology of distributed version systems and blockchains, it maintains a gigantic Merkle graph, with more than 20 billion nodes and 300 billion edges.
